Hi
As it's written in my OALD, we say "spend on something/ on doing something". How about a case that the object is a person? For example, I like spending money on my family/ parents or should we say "for my family"? (Although the use of "for" is because of my first language, we use for in Persian equivalent which I think isn't acceptable in English.)
Thanks a lot.

'On' is the normal preposition.
