    What is the difference of these sentences?

    1. David has lived here for eight months.
    2. We have been married for twenty years.
    Questions
    1. Why not has been lived in sentence 1.? What is the difference of has lived and has been living?
    2. Why not have married in sentence 2.?, What is been functions for?
    3. What are the grammar rules for these two sentences?

    In #1, "to live" is the verb. "He has been lived" does not exist in the conjugation of the verb "to live". However, "David has been living here for eight months" means the same as "David has lived here for eight months".

    In #2, in "We have been married", "married" is an adjective. It's like "We have been tired for weeks" or similar, so "married" is not part of the verb.
