    Smile disorted blast of music

    Hello. I'm wondering what 'a distorted blast of music' means in this context below.
    Does it mean, a sudden loud alarm sound wakes me up?
    Thank you.

    ==========
    A distorted blast of music wrenched me from sleep. I reach out and slam my hand down on the alarm clock.

    That would be my understanding.

    If it was a radio alarm clock, then the sound probably was music and, if the radio had not been tuned correctly, it would be distorted.

    Or it may have been tuned correctly, but the volume had been turned up so loud that it distorted the sound. That would certainly "wrench" me from sleep and cause me to "slam my hand down" on the alarm clock. It sounds like a fairly horrendous way to be woken up!
