    To mount a battery in(to) a device

    Hi group

Foreign speakers of English seem to use the verb "to mount" incorrectly. One example is "to mount a battery into a device".

    Is this correct?

    Kind regards

Re: To mount a battery in(to) a device

    I say

'I had a new car battery fitted'.

'I need to change the batteries in my walkman.'

'I put a new battery in the smoke alarm.'

I would never use 'mount a battery'.

I'd use mount for memory sticks and external drives but not batteries.

    You could "insert" a battery.
