    1. REQUEST FOR. example: I request for a cup of water.

    2. REQUEST. example: I request a cup of water.

    A more helpful title would have been Request/for (Caps Lock off, please).

    2 is correct. You request a cup of water, or, more informally, you ask for one.

    You can use for when request is a noun: I made a request for a cup of water.
