    Does this sentence sound natural and do you take 'it' as a word referring to the marriage?

    He decided to marry that girl even though his parents tried hard to stop it.

    And what about this one? Does this sound OK with 'do it'?

    He decided to marry that girl even though his parents really told him that he shouldn't do it.
