He has the same big house as I.

This sentence sounds a bit awkward. Is it correct from a native's point of view? If not, how can I express the same meaning with "the same...as"?

Thanks

How is his house the same as yours? Is it made from the same design? Then you could say you have identical houses.

Thank you for your help.

I know that "I have as big a house as he does" is better.

But I just want to know if there is anything grammatically wrong as to "I have the same big house as he does"?

Thanks again

There's nothing grammatically wrong with your sentence, but it doesn't mean the same thing. "Same big" does not mean "as big as."

"The same big house" means "the same house which, incidentally, is big". By saying that you have the same big house, you are saying you have the same house. That is probably not the case. Your houses are probably very different, but they are both big and they are the same size as each other.

Our houses are the same size, and they're big.
His house is as big as mine.
My house is as big as his.
