    Grammar

    Good Afternoon ,
    I was wondering why would we change try to " tries ...." but we keep the "y" in other verbs like
    lay >>> lays

    In general, it is determined by what type of letter goes before the "y." In "key" it is a vowel, so the plural is formed by just adding an "s."

    In "try," it is a consonant, so we changes the "y" to an "i" and add "es."

    Fly - flies
    Boy - boys

    And as you can see, it isn't just a rule for verbs.

    I fly - He flies. (Verb)
    I can see a fly - I can see ten flies. (Noun)
