    New Word

Hello, I was listening to my professor, and I get confused when she said," we are good in lots of regards".
My confusion is when it comes to the word regards, I understood that regard means like consideration and affection about something or someone, and also it can be used to mention something, such as " regarding to next test, we wil..." but my professor completely confuse me!

    Please, help me with that.

    Thank you

Look at definition 4 of the noun here (a particular point or aspect). In this context, its meaning is "aspect". He was saying that "we" (I don't know if he meant the school, the teachers, the class, the country etc) are good in many different aspects (again, without knowing who "we" are, it's impossible to tell what those aspects are).

"My school has a great music department, an amazing language department, a fantastic drama department but the gym is very poorly equipped. We are great in a lot of regards, but the sport and fitness side of things lets us down."
