    Blue Bloods

    Hello,

I'm a fan of the series "Blue Bloods". What I don't understand is why there is an "s" after "blood"? Is it because each police officer is A blue blood?

    Thank you.

A "blue blood" or "blueblood" usually means a person of aristocratic birth.
"I went to a party in this old mansion and there were all these rich people and bluebloods wandering around".
I don't know the TV series but it seems to be about a family whose lives are involved in the NY police force. Hence, I assume, "blue" symbolizes the police and "blood", the family.
So, in a sense, the title of the TV series borrows the earlier term and forms the plural in the same way.
