    affordable

Make the most of your vacation with just the right place to stay. Areyou looking for somewhere luxurious? There are hotels on the beach and spas that promise a quiet, relaxing visit. If you want something more welcoming , choose a bed and breakfast. Do you need something affordable? Try a private room or apartment. You can rent these from the houseowners, who add a personal touch to your stay.

As far as I know, affordable means cheap. Why does the author use this word when "choosing a private room or apartment" obviously costs more?

    Thanks

    Re: affordable

Compared to a luxury hotel on the beach, renting a room from a private homeowner would cost a great deal less!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
