    Could you correct these sentences please?

    Hi teachers,
    Could you correct these sentences please?
    a) I hurt different toes on my foot.
    b) The airplane is flying among the clouds.
    c) After the slip my hand hurts.
    d) The government of Syria is killing inocent people.
    e) There isn't my trousers size.
    f) Sommeliers always smell the wine before tasting it.

    I'm sure that only a few days ago you posted a similar thread which simply listed some sentences and asked us to correct them. I think I said at the time that, especially as you are a teacher, it would be much better if you could explain why you think they are incorrect in the first place, and also attempt to correct them yourself first. We can then look at your corrections, if any were necessary, and comment.

    Yes, you did. What I've posted here are already my corrections. Though I'm a teacher, I only teach beginners and intermediate levels.

    The first one is hard to repair. For some reason we can hurt a toe, but don't normally hurt toes; we can injure, break or bruise more than one toe. There is no need to say that the toes are on your foot - they wouldn't be anywhere else - unless you want to specify which foot they are on. So:

    I injured several toes (on my right foot).

    Even then, it doesn't sound likely if you are talking about just one foot. If you injured several toes, then you did not injure one or all of them, and probably not just a couple. As that leaves only three or four, we'd probably use the number rather than 'several'.
