    the concition vs. condition

I wonder, do I need a definite article before "condition" in this sentence? Dictionary says that "condition" in this sense can be uncountable or singular, which did not help me at all. Personally, I'd use the definite article.

I have to adapt my driving to the condition of the road.

That sentence needs the definite article. Which dictionary did you use, and what exactly did it say?

    Re: the concition vs. condition

Thank you. I thought so, but I admit that I don't know why. Could you give me the reason for using the definite article?

I used OLAD; the first entry. Here: condition - Definition and pronunciation | Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary at OxfordLearnersDictionaries.com

It doesn't say much more than that "condition" can be either uncountable or singular.
From the example sentences below the entry, I am not able say when it is considered uncountable or singular.
