    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    If you're talking about little drinks of liquor, known as "shots," then I say you "did" too many shots, not you "took" too many shots.

    Any more context than simply being "at" the bar?

    If you're at a bar rather than a firing range or a photographic studio, it means 'I had too much to drink'.

    Please give your threads more helpful titles. I took too many shots would have been good for this one.
