"Temper" seems to mean either "state of mind" or "heat of mind or passion", and I used to think "temper" itself is a bad one as in "I lost my temper = I got angry", but thinking of the example, it also means "state of mind" as in "good/bad temper". What do you think?
ex)...I have a bad temper, which often gets me into trouble...

'Temper" is an interesting word. It derives from 'temperance' which means 'moderation'. To 'lose your temper' is to lose your self-control or moderation. But to 'have a temper' means to be irritable. Go figure.
