    being stopped

People are afraid that archaeologists may takea real interest in the site and spend many weeks or months digging around atit. That would result in farmers construction work to be stopped for a long time. They donít realize thatthey should not weigh their own business interest against our national history.

I think the underlined part should be replaced by
"being stopped", as is grammatically correct.

    Am I right?

    Thanks

    farmers construction work
This is an odd phrase IMO. I would say farmers' work.

It could be that the remains the archaeologists were interested in were discovered when the farmers were beginning construction of some farm building.
