Is the verb "feel" used properly here?

    Context:

She's often tortured by a sudden pain in her heart, and the pain feels like squeezing and burning.

'Feel is OK, but 'be tortured by' is not natural. It's not very exciting, but 'get' is probably as natural as anything. I'd say:

She often gets (experiences/feels) a pain in in heart; the sensation is of squeezing and burning/there is a burning sensation, and it feels as if her heart is being squeezed.
