    a short one

Let's have a look at the following setnences :

    1) The village in which he lives is a beauty-spot.

    2) The village he lives in is a beauty-spot. (no "which" here)

I was wondering whether another option would be possible :

    3) The village which he lives in is a beauty-spot.

and what about this one :

The house in which we were staying... / The house we were staying in... / The house WHICH (?) we were staying in...

    best wishes,

yeah, those sentences are all correct, they all come from one sentence,
    it's :" he lives in a village,it's a beauty spot",and can be rewritten :
    1) The village in which he lives is a beauty-spot.
    2) The village he lives in is a beauty-spot.
    3) The village which he lives in is a beauty-spot.
    4) The village that he lives in is a beauty-spot.
    5) The villlage where he lives is a beauty-spot.

these sentences are all using relative adverb(in which, where, that),notice that "in which"="where" and if you use "which" ,the preposition "in" can come after or before it,if you use "where",omit the preposition "in".You can also use relative pronounce "that"(you can omit "that" as the 2nd sentence).
    Good luck!
