    adjectival clauses

    Which are correct:

1-I was trying to save her, who was completely unconscious.
2-I was trying to pull her, who was completely unconscious, out of the car.

3-I was trying to save her, completely unconscious.
4-I was trying to pull her, completely unconscious, out of the car.

5-I was trying to save Jean, completely unconscious.
6-I was trying to pull Jean, completely unconscious, out of the car.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: adjectival clauses

    (Not a Teacher)

For your first two sets, I'm not sure if using a 'who' clause with personal pronouns is strictly ungrammatical, but I am 100% positive that it sounds a tad unnatural.

For your third set, however, the 'who' clause would fit like a glove:
"I was trying to save Jean, who was completely unconscious."

    Re: adjectival clauses

Thank you very much SlickVic9000 and Rover.

What do you think of the second set?

3-I was trying to save her, completely unconscious.
4-I was trying to pull her, completely unconscious, out of the car.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Re: adjectival clauses

    They are both unnatural.

I advise you to avoid using them.
