I am wondering why HAVING EATEN is used in its place in that sentence?

I don't remember who posted this originally some time ago with the exact example, but as Yogi Berra is alleged to have said, "this seems like deja vu all over again".

Perfect Participle Phrase used in the active form with "Having" + a Past Participle. It shows that the
action takes place before the action mentioned in the main clause.
Example:Having brushed my teeth, I went to bed.
