Hello!

Do you like vanilla or chocolate ice cream?

A: I don't like either. ([STRIKE]I don't like both.[/STRIKE])
B: I like both. ([STRIKE]I like either.[/STRIKE])

As I see, we use 'either' in negative and 'both' in affirmative sentences. Is it a rule? If not, is there any rule, which explaines this? Thank you.

BTW. 'I don't like both' would be correct, if e.g. I like each of them but not both at the same time on the same plate. That's not what I mean.;-)
