    would like

If you want to ask a person what kind of job will they have in the future, you say "What would you like to be?" And it refers to present / future.
How about when you want to ask about someone's childhood? Is it correct to say "What would you like to be when you were a child?". I mean can we use "would like" here?

"What would you have liked to have been when you were a child?" I think this is what you want to ask, but it's an odd question.

    Re: would like

It's a wordy way to do it as bhai has shown. In BrE we usually ask "[When you were a child], what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

That's what I was going to answer, but when I re-read the question, the OP seemed to want to ask what the person wanted to do as a child, during childhood.

I see your point. It would be an odd question especially as children normally have aspirations to be something when they're older, not next week! I would be surprised to hear:

    - What would you have liked to be/have been when you were a child?
    - When I was six, I wanted to be top of the class, when I was ten, I wanted to be on the school swimming team and when I was fifteen I wanted to be a prefect.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Yes, as I said, odd question.

    Re: would like

In fact, if I wanted to ask about those aspirations, I would probably ask:

    - What did you want when you were a child?
    - What did you want to be like when you were a child?
    - Were you a happy and fulfilled child?
    - Did you have everything you wanted in life as a child?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
