Does "accommodation" means "adaptation" in the following sentence?

Some accommodation between conservation and tourism is essential.

    Consensus or agreement, perhaps?
If I were a native speaker of English, I would never shut up. :-)

    Compromise is a better synonym.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: The meaning of a word

Although the noun form : accomodation can relate to the verb "accomodate", it would be a low frequency useage, and possibly not very clear to the reader. I'd agree with the others that "compromise" would express the idea more clearly.
