    it was nice

Teacher, please check for errors. Thank you.

It was nice talking to you and getting to know you last Wednesday. We really have something in common and that is food. It is good to know that James is doing so well in his studies.

    Re: it was nice

Seemed perfectly plausible to me that I'd have food in common with someone else! I didn't even blink when I read that. I would have expected the next sentence to have something to do with a recipe or restaurant, but hey, I'm a foodie.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
