David's aspirations did not fall term

David’s aspirations would, in fact, change, though certainly not fall term, when, working for the school newspaper, he brushed elbows with several of his broadcast idols.
I have looked in several dictionaries, but I couldn't find the meaning of "fall term". I think it means that his aspirations did change, but they didn't vanish, which is what I think "fall term" means. Am I right?

    Thank you.

    Could it possibly be 'falter'?

It's the term of school during the fall season. It should say "in the fall term."
