    Made in Space

Please set me clear on the following in red.

The technology is poised to leave our world. A Singularity University spin-off, Made in Space, has demonstrated a 3-D printer that works in zero gravity, so astronauts aboard the International Space Station can print spare parts whenever the need arises.

Is "Made in Space" the subsidiary company of the Singularity University? Is "spin-off" what it means in the context?

    Thank you.

Not a subsidiary, but a new independent company. Some of the shareholders in the original company are the shareholders in the new company.

    Re: Made in Space

I never thought companies could have spin-offs. I only knew TV series to sometimes have one.
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor a teacher.

    Re: Made in Space

I usually hear about spinoffs from universities.

That's where I have come across the word most.
