    the preposition 'by'

I sometimes wonder whether the preposition 'by' is mostly used for humans or it can be widely used for objects too?
What do you recommend for the followings?

    1. Do not get mad with/by simple words.
    2. Don't put out your anger with/by cursing.

Which preposition do you suggest for the above sentences and what rule can you guide me with?
    Thanks,
    ata

    Re: the preposition 'by'

"Cursing" isn't an object. It's an activity.

Neither of these is natural. I am not sure what you mean by the first. The second could be: Don't curse to express/show/vent your anger.
