    Why without indefinite article?

Why "carry considerable weight" but not "carry a considerable weight"?

    Context:

If He put us on center stage, He must have built it all for us. When heliocentric science forced a revision of this percep-tion, many believers were shaken up.
But a third pillar of belief continued to carry considerable weight: the complexity of earthly life, implying to any reason-able observer the handiwork of an intelligent designer.

You have to love a language in which one single two-word phrase can have 26 different definitions!
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

To be fair, only one of the 26 is concerned with 'carry weight'.
