The teacher said that the world is/was round.

The teacher said, "The earth is round."

In reported speech, it is The teacher said that the earth is round.

Would it be wrong to write "The teacher said that the earth was round"? (The verb' said' is past tense and so is 'was'.)

    Thanks.

    It would not be wrong.
