How to remember English name "Edward O. Wilson"?

Will you remember it as is, or just remember "Edward Wilson even "Wilson"?

    Context:

Consider, for instance, Edward O. Wilson,
one of the most outstanding evolutionary biologists of our time. In his book On 162 The Language of God.

If I knew the full name as you've described it then I would probably remember it (although I grow less confident of such things as time goes by). However, in conversation with people that know who I'm referring to then I might just say "Wilson", or perhaps "Edward Wilson" if I needed to be clearer. For example, I know the famous inventor's name was Thomas Alva Edison but in many situations I can refer to "Edison" and people know who I mean.
