    Please help me with this:
    Why we often call these values/figure which are read from a meter like multimeter are readings?
    Is is better than figure or value?
    I know that reading is something that is read but I think figure/value is more specific.

    Yes – 'meter reading' is the standard collocation and I see no good reason to change it.

    I agree. "What is the reading?" or "What is the meter reading?" I might ask a colleague with a voltmeter on a piece of equipment.
