    his being choosen

    Hello,

I would like to know if we can replace the sentence ''we were surprised that he was chosen as a headmaster'' with the
sentences “his being chosen as a headmaster have surprised us” or “his having been chosen as a headmaster have surprised us.”

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I believe it's correct. I seem to remember that "him being chosen..." would also be OK.
