    rolled through some stop signs

1.What does "rolled through some stop signs" mean? "passing some stop sings"?
2.In "signal his intention to turn", "signal" means "pressing left or righ signal in a car", but how do you say it exactly?

ex)...A Southeast Asian high school teacher visiting the States for advanced studies learned just how seriously they do when he tried to obtain an American driver's license...."They kept saying I was breaking the laws." He had rolled through some stop signs and failed to signal his intention to turn. In his own country such behavior was quite acceptable.

Re: rolled through some stop signs

He didn't come to a complete stop.

He failed to use his turn indicator. Or, more informally, he didn't put his blinker on.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
