    comparatives

    Hi,

    1. Everest is the highest mountain in the world. (That's OK)
    2. Everest is the highest mountain of the world.

    3. Michael is the tallest person in our family. (That's OK)
    4. Michael is the tallest person of our family.

I have been a little confused. What if I put the preposition ''of'' instead of ''in'' in those senteces?

    Thanks.

    Re: comparatives

In your examples in is correct.

There's no reason to change it.

    Re: comparatives

    aysaa,

What if? Yes, "in" is correct, but it is idiomatic. Mountains are obviously not "in" the world. In my opinion, "of" would be most logical, but it is simply not what we say, "if" you said "of" it would be strange.
