My duty is to investigate the cause of customer compliant.

When there is a customer complaint, I need to find out the cause.

For example, if a customer complains the taste of food is very bad, I need to find out why the taste of food is bad.
    The cook is not skillful?
Or the food itself has problem?

Can I say the following sentence?

My duty is to investigate the cause of customer complaint.

    Thanks

Re: My duty is to investigate the cause of customer compliant.

Before you continue with this thread, note the correct spelling of "complaint" (noun) and "complain" (verb).

    "Compliant" is an adjective.

You might want to edit your post and correct the spelling before we start to answer.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    A compliant customer rarely complains.

On a more serious note, this is an example of why correct spelling is important. If we read "When there is customer compliant, I need to find out the cause", many of us would guess that the writer had made a mistake, and we would accept that we should read 'complaint'. However, some would not realise this, and would be confused by the sentence.

If that sounds unlikely, consider this: I saw a female bare in the woods. If there is no context, I suspect that most of us would understand that the writer had seen an ursine beast. However, it is possible that he saw a naturist, and that the word is correctly spelt.
