    ask way too much?

i was wandering through a passage on a website then i saw this expression
: "You ask way too much". i got what is meant here of course but i dont know what the need of using "way" is. what does it add to the meaning? what would the sentence lose if it had been merely "ask too much"?
i appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

it's just a slang word for "very", "extremely".
Too much would be enough by itself but "way too much" means he is asking by far too much.

thank you so much but i remember hearing another expression in the same use like " he is way else where". in this context i cannot replace "way" with "very", can i? so what does it add in here?
