    has to/needs to

    Which are correct:

1-This thing has to have had a stupid inventor.

2-This thing has to have a stupid inventor.

3-This thing needs to have had a stupid inventor.
4-This thing needs to have a stupid inventor.

Meaning: It is highly likely that this thing was invented by a stupid inventor.

The ones with "need" sound wrong to me.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.
I don't find any of them natural.
You could say "This thing must have had a stupid inventor".
