Our Chinatown is very small and it was constructed on the money allocated by ....

    Hello,

Here is the extract about the Chinatown in St.Petersburg:

Our Chinatown is very small and it was constructed on the money allocated by several Chinese businessmen, who wanted to start a business in the city.

Is the preposition "on" correct? The intended meaning is that the Chines businessmen gave money for building several joint offices in one place and later that place became known as the Chinatown. Their money was used to cover the expenses.

    Thanks

    I would use "with".
