    metaphor

it was perhaps five feet long and four feet across, with a high domed shell of great beauty

    what is the metaphor?

    explain the comparison?

what are the two things being compaired?

There's no apparent metaphor there. There's no comparison made. There aren't two things being compared.

If it's homework, you must try to answer it yourself. But what you've posted seems to make no sense.
