    Chess AI

What does "Chess AI" refer to in the following? A chess game program, or an application?

But the const doubling of computer power every year enabled the Deep Blue supercomputer to defeat Kasparov (the human chess champion) only five years later. Today you can buy a championship-level Chess AI for your iPhone for less than ten dollars.

    Thank you.

    Re: Chess AI

It stands for "Artificial Intelligence": Artificial intelligence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PS: In this particular case, it is a game for iPhone, but one that is challenging, so it is the modern and portable "equivalent" of Deep Blue.
