My teacher said to us / told us / advised that we must study hard at all times.

My teacher said to us, "You must study hard at all times."

    1. My teacher said to us that we must study hard at all times.
    2. My teacher told us that we must study hard at all times.
    3. My teacher advised that we must study hard at all times.

Which of the above sentences is correct in reporting the sentence in bold?

    Thanks.

    2 is okay.

1 is awkward with "to us"
3 is sort-of okay, but better as "My teacher advised us to study hard at all times."
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
