    going sailing / doing some sailing

    Regarding activities ( climbing,hiking,skiing,windsurfing), I'd like to know whether we can say go or do.
    To me it sounds both are correct usage, however, we're guided by our books to use solely the verb go.

    It depends on the context, as usual.

    'I'm going sailing (I haven't gone yet) and Martin's on the piste doing some skiing (he's there now)'.
