    stock vs share

    What do you think is the difference between "stock" and "share"? My gut feeling is that "stock" is a collective noun, while "share" indicates a selling unit, but maybe there's little difference.

    ex)Low-priced stocks - those selling for less than $15 a share - are usually cheap for a good reason. While it may be tempting to buy a lot of shares at a low price, the financial performance of most of these has been poor and lags behind most other stocks in the market...
