Be lacking in? Or be lacking of?

    1. I'm still lacking in the skill.
    2. I'm still lacking of the skill.
    3. I'm still lack in the skill.
    4. I'm still lack of the skill.

    Which is correct?

Re: Be lacking in? Or be lacking of?

    Hi,

I'd say "I still lack the skill", "I still don't have the (necessary) skill" or "I'm not skilled (enough) yet". These sound more natural to me.

Why don't you have a go first? You may find the following information, taken from the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, useful:

Do not use ‘in’ or ‘of’ after the verb lack : We lack ideas (NOT We lack in/of ideas). However, you can use these prepositions after be lacking in and a lack : We are lacking in ideas. | There is a lack of ideas.
