    "The" instead of "this"

    Hello, in youtube I saw a video about grammar learning and teacher talked about "the" definite article can be used instead of "this" if something is definite. Is that true?
    For example when I comment in youtube below can I use "the" definite article. "The video was boring"

    You can. That's why it's called "the definite article."

    That said, "this video..." is what I would use in your scenario on youtube.
