Student or Learner
'I'd like someone to read to me.' I am supposed to change it into passive. Should I use 'have sb do sth'? -> 'I'd like to have someone read me', is it correct?
I'd like to have someone read me -- This sounds like something a talking book would say. Or maybe there are many psychics doing "readings." It's not what you want.
I would like X.
X becomes the subject. X would be liked.
[For] someone to read to me would be liked.
Someone reading to me would be appreciated -- this is slightly less awkward.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
