He is having a 200-room villa built here and owns properties in at least five other cities around the world.
But while his business interests remain in China, he has also stumped up the sizeable investment needed to buy himself residency rights in Singapore.


Please look at the following sentence.
Porsche-driving Louie Huang lives in Shanghai, having made his money - a lot of money - in property.


My husband and I think it is an awkward one.

Porsche-driving Louie Huang lives in Shanghai. {This is correct.}

Porsche-driving Louie Huang lives in Shanghai made a lot of money and property. { You could write this too.}

He made his money or he made a lot of money { Correct.}

He made his money and property. { We don't know whether it is correct to say 'made property'.}

The original sentence is strange, we think.

Please observe that it doesn't say, that Louie Huang "made property". It says that he made money "in property" which specifies where his fortune is invested (in property as opposed to shares or bonds for example)

Yes, it's correct. He bought and sold property. Probably developed it.
