    USAGE OF "HAVE HAD"

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    Please give me an idea of usage of "have had"in a sentence....

    I have had problems with questions such as this for some time. I have had no real idea of what the questioner really wants.

    One example I can share with you:

    I've had lunch today. (the time when that happened is not mentioned - what matters is that the event has already occurred before the person makes that statement)
    I had lunch at 12 today. (the time is specifically mentioned)

    5jj has given you another good example of this kind of usage of the Present Perfect. Here the person indicates that in his experience he has come across that kind of questions.

    Basically, it's all about the Present Perfect tense. You've got to get it once and for all. English is mainly about the articles, the tenses and the gerunds!
