I have two questions about setences

    Dear teachers.

I need help with some grammar.

    1. I used "respectively" in my sentence and I would like to know that If I used it correctly or not

Ex) Substance A and substance B have high work function and low band gap, respectively ( I would like to say that substance A has high work fuction and substance B has low band gap, Is this right sentence?)

    2. Since the process temperature of substance A is measured within 20-30 degree celcius, substances synthesized at this temperature range are compared. (For this sentence, I think it sounds little awkward. Please make a correction for this sentence)

    Thank you so much guys

    ***Not a teacher***

Your use of respectively is correct- nice work.

And in the second sentence, it should be "are compared," instead of "is compared," since the subject is the plural "substances." There might be some other more subtle problems with the sentence as well, but you'd probably have to ask a native speaker who knew what you were talking about. When you say "measured within," it implies precision, i.e. +/- 20-30 degC, whereas I think you mean "Since the process temperature of substance A is measured within the range of 20-30 degC." Check with an expert!

Re: I have two questions about setences

    Thank you for your help.

Also I just realized that it would be better to write one question in the thread.

For second sentence, I really need help.

Re: I have two questions about setences

    Welcome to the forums, ming.

In future, please ask unrelated questions in separate threads, giving each a relevant title, such as Use of 'respectively' and Process temperature.

    Thank you.
