Are these sentences natural? Sept 18

    Hi,

Are these sentences natural to a native ear?

    1. We stayed in a hotel on the outskirt of the city.

    2. It will be in production by halfway through the next year.

    3. For how many degrees should I put this in the oven?

    Thanks,
    MG

    1. Outskirts
    2. OK
    3. This isn't natural. We would speak of the temperature that was needed not "how many degrees."

"by midyear". (if spoken/written after midyear of the current year) or "by midyear 20__" (if spoken/written prior to or after midyear of the current year)

    3. For At how many degrees (OR "at what temperature) should I put bake this in the oven?

    Thanks,
    MG

We don't use midyear in BE. I'd say 'by the middle of the year'.

    Thanks folks.

    2. It will be in production by halfway through the next year.
I am wondering if there should be an article before 'halfway' in the original sentence.

Can I say 'by the middle of the year next year'?

Can I say 'for how long should I bake this in the oven'?

I would actually use "put" as you did originally.

How long should I put this in the oven for?

You're not necessarily baking something in the oven. You might be roasting it. (BrE)
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
